Antigua and Barbuda issued a circular for Seafarers’ Medical Certificates procedures

The Antigua and Barbuda Maritime Administration has issued a circular regarding Seafarers’ Medical Certificates procedures.

This circular was published on 5 February 2024.

It is applicable to all Antigua and Barbuda flagged ships.

Seafarers are required to possess valid medical certificates issued by authorized practitioners, with a maximum validity of two years. Acceptable certificates include those issued in accordance with STCW 1978 or the Maritime Labour Convention by authorized practitioners, as well as certificates issued by ADOMS-approved medical practitioners in Antigua and Barbuda.

The circular also mentions procedures for verifying the recognition and authorization of medical practitioners and specifies that medical examinations should follow the International Labour Organisation's guidelines.
