Bermuda issues notice for Amendment 41-22 to IMDG Code

The Bermuda Shipping and Maritime Authority has published the merchant shipping guidance notice regarding amendment 41-22 to IMDG Code.

This notice was published on 02 March 2023 and is applicable to ship owners, managers, operators, masters, and officers of Bermuda-registered ships.

Amendment 41-22 of the IMDG Code has been adopted by the International Maritime Organisation through Resolution MSC.501 (105) applying on a voluntary basis from 1st January 2023 and entering into force internationally on 1st January 2024.

The current version of the IMDG Code (Amendment 40-20 IMDG Code 2020 edition) is valid until 31 December 2023.

From 1st January 2023 until 31st December 2023, Dangerous Goods and Marine
Pollutants should be shipped either:

  • In accordance with the mandatory IMDG Code 2020 edition incorporating Amendment 40-20; or
  • In accordance with the voluntary IMDG Code 2022 edition incorporating Amendment 41-22

With effect from 1st January 2024, Dangerous Goods and Marine Pollutants can only be shipped in accordance with the IMDG Code 2022 edition incorporating Amendment 41-22.
