CCS revises Guidelines for Application of SCR System Onboard Ships

China Classification Society (CCS) has revised the Guidelines for Application of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) System Onboard Ships.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system is currently used onboard many ships and is considered the most efficient method of NOx reduction in comparison to the other methods due to its durability and compliance with most commercial ships.

The Guidelines mainly specify the requirements for the design, arrangement, control and monitoring, and installation tests of SCR systems onboard ships. These requirements are class survey requirements aiming to provide guidance for the design, construction/conversion, survey and tests of the ship. The Guidelines are supplement to the rules and may not substitute the provisions of any conventions and regulations or operational requirements.

Technical requirements for the application of SCR systems onboard ships are to be further supplemented.

The Guidelines enter into force on 01 July 2022.
