Ukraine sends communication on the status of their ports

International Maritime Organization (IMO) has circulated a communication from the Government of Ukraine as Circular Letters No.4556 and No.4557 with an updated status of situation in Ukrainian ports.

Circular Letter No.4556

Following the adoption of the Order No.255-r by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which provides for the allocation of funds of the state budget
for the purposes of compensation for possible damage caused as a result of the Russian Federations' armed aggression against Ukraine, the Ministry informs charterers, operators and/or owners of seagoing and inland waterway vessels flying the flag of Ukraine and under the flags of foreign states - in case such vessels are in the waters of Ukrainian ports on the Danube - That the Ministry of Infrastructure shall approve the mechanism for assessing the relevant damage caused to the persons specified above.

Circular Letter No.4557

Due to temporary occupation of certain parts of Ukraine's territory by the Russian armed forces, Ukraine is prevented from providing services to ships and passengers, carrying-out cargo and transport operations and other related economic activities, ensuring the proper level of safety of navigation, as well as compliance with international treaties to which Ukraine is a party.

In view of the above, by the Order of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine No. 256 the seaports of Berdiansk, Kherson, Mariupol and Skadovsk are announced as closed until the resumption of control over them by Ukraine.
