Hong Kong notifies vessels of several marine works
Hong Kong Marine Department has issued multiple Notices warning mariners of construction, repair and marine site investigation works, as well as notifying them of work hours and locations.
Construction of the Hong Kong Link Road Marine Works to the South-east of the Hong Kong International Airport will be carried out for a period of approximately 24 months. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the boundary of the works area.
Submarine Cable Laying Operations from Chung Hom Kok to Waters East of Hong Kong will be carried out for a period of approximately 6 months. The works will be carried out by a flotilla of vessels including two special purpose vessels, one dumb lighter, one flat-top work barge, one transportation boat and two tugs. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.
Coral Survey off Port Island, Tai Shue Wan and Deep Water Bay will be carried out for a period of approximately 36 months in three separate working areas. The works will be carried out by one work boat and a working area of approximately 20 metres around the work boat will be established. The hours of work will be from 09h to 17h hours every Sunday.
Construction of Landing Facility at Tai Shue Wan will be carried out for a period of approximately 38 months. The works will be carried out by one dumb lighter, while one tug will provide assistance.
Construction of Subsea Pipeline from Northwest of Tai O to West of Fan Lau will be carried out for a period of approximately four months. The hours of work will be round-the-clock.
Marine Site Investigation works involving drilling of boreholes and hydrographic survey at Siu Ho Wan, Lantau Island will be carried out for a period of approximately four months. The works will be carried out by one jack-up barge and one flat top barge. One tugboat and two work boats will provide assistance. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays.
Maintenance Works of Special Mark Buoy off Bluff Head will be carried out for a period of approximately six months. A working area of approximately 50 metres around the lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the lighter. The hours of work will be from 07h to 19h and no works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will not stay in the works area outside the hours of work.
Marine Site Investigation to the South of Ma Wan will be held for a period of approximately one month. The works will be carried out by two jack-up barges and one tugboat will provide assistance.
Sediment Sampling Works off Po Toi O will be held for a period of approximately one month. The works will be carried out by one jack-up barge, while two tugs will provide assistance. The hours of works will be from 07h to 19h.
Marine Site Investigation at Tsing Lung Tau will be carried out d for a period of approximately three months from 08h to 18h, except on Sundays and public holidays.
Construction of Subsea Pipeline off West Coast of Lamma Island will be carried out for a period of approximately two months and the hours of work will be around-the-clock.
