LR published Guidance Notes on the installation of fuel cells and on the tyre print chart

Lloyd's Register on 1 April 2023 published two Guidance Notes: on the installation of fuel cells on ships, and on the tyre print chart usage.

Guidance Notes on the Installation of Fuel Cells on Ships

This guidance pertains to the integration of fuel cell power installations and their related sub-systems or auxiliary systems on board a ship.

It complements Pt 5, Ch 26 Fuel Cell Power Installations of Lloyd's Register's Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Ships, which outline the requirements for fuel cell installations.

However, it is important to note that this guidance does not cover the storage and supply of fuel for the fuel cell.

For information on fuel storage and fuel supply systems, please refer to LR's Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Ships using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels and the accompanying guidance provided by LR.

Guidance Notes for Tyre Print Chart Useage Guide

The purpose of this document is to offer guidance on the utilization of the tyre print chart for determining the necessary plate thickness for decks that will be exposed to wheeled loads
