Malta announced the increase in the rates for pilotage services

The Ports and Yachting Directorate of Transport Malta has released a notice announcing the increase in the rates for pilotage services.

As advised in Port Notice 10 of 2007 issued on 21 December 2007, the Agreement entered into in 2007 between the then Malta Maritime Authority (today the Authority for Transport in Malta) and the Malta Maritime Pilots Co-operative Society Limited establishes that a 7% increase in the standard rates for pilotage services shall take place every four years.

In this respect, the next revision in the standard tariff will be effective as of 1 January 2024.

The relative Legal Notice amending the Schedule to the Maritime Pilotage Regulations (S.L. 499.26) will be published accordingly.

The Pilotage dues at the Standard Rate (SR) for pilotage services applicable as of 1 January 2024:

  • (a) Ships not exceeding 500 tons ... €210
  • (b) Ships exceeding 500 tons and not exceeding 1,000 tons ... €224
  • (c) Ships exceeding 1,000 tons and not exceeding 2,000 tons ... €236
  • (d) Ships exceeding 2,000 tons and not exceeding 3,500 tons ... €248
  • (e) Ships exceeding 3,500 tons and not exceeding 5,000 tons ... €262
  • (f) Ships exceeding 5,000 tons and not exceeding 7,000 tons ... €276
  • (g) Ships exceeding 7,000 tons and not exceeding 10,000 tons ... €288
  • (h) Ships exceeding 10,000 tons and not exceeding 15,000 tons ... €301
  • (i) Ships exceeding 15,000 tons and not exceeding 20,000 tons ... €315
  • (j) Ships exceeding 20,000 tons and not exceeding 25,000 tons ... €328
  • (k) Ships exceeding 25,000 tons and not exceeding 30,000 tons ... €340
  • (l) Ships exceeding 30,000 tons and not exceeding 40,000 tons ... €367
  • (m) For every additional 10,000 tons or pa1i thereof in excess of 40,000 tons ... €59
