MSN 05/2019 has been enforced for vessels sailing Malaysian waters

Marine Department Malaysia, on April 19th, 2023, issued a port circular about the enforcement of the Malaysian Shipping Notice (MSN) 05/2019.

The purpose of this circular is to inform that the Malaysian Shipping Notice (MSN) 05/2019 has been enforced for vessels sailing Malaysian waters.

Ships that have been given the approval to operate for the activities under section 491B must ensure that the AIS system is always activated at all times.

In case of malfunction or other reason for not having AIS switched on, a ship must notify any Nearby Port Office within 24 hours.

Failure to comply with the above requirements will result in revocation of operating approval or prosecution which can lead to a fine or to imprisonment.
