The Panama Maritime Authority has issued a merchant marine circular regarding the EPIRB registration.
The circular was published on January 1st, 2023.
IMO Resolution A. 887(21) adopts the Recommendation on the Establishment, Updating and Retrieval of the Information Contained in the Registration Databases for the GMDSS and the Registration Database for the GMDSS should include the EPIRB identification code.
All vessels under the SOLAS convention have to register their beacons.
COSPAS-SARSAT implemented an International 406 MHz Beacon Registration Database and ship owners/operators should register their 406 MHz emergency beacon (EPIRB) by accessing the Database.
