Classification Society RINA has amended parts A, B, C and E of "Rules for the Classification of Yachts Designed for Commercial Use". The amendments became effective on July 1st 2022.
Parts A and B were amended to introduce IACS UR Z28 (New Oct 2020) “Surveys of Watertight Cable Transits” for yachts of more than 500 GT. Part B was also introduced to criteria for the scantling of side/stern doors used as a platform.
Part C was introduced with the possibility to change the dimensions of the specimens to be tested in accordance with the FTP Code, as well as specific requirements for the fire resistance tests to evaluate the proposed insulation of composite structures. The requirements for the protection of stairways and lifts in accommodation and service spaces for yachts of more than 500 GT was also clarified.
Part E was amended to introduce a specific instruction for calculation of operative consumption of yachts with high powered engines designed for short sprint speeds and to amend the requirements for the assignment of the Comfort Large Yacht additional class notation to customize them more specifically on large yachts.
