Singapore amends Merchant Shipping Act Chapter 179
The Flag State of Singapore has amended Merchant Shipping Act, Chapter 179, Section 87 regarding Property of Deceased Seamen.
The amended paragraph 8(3) was changed to:
"If any claim is not established to the satisfaction of the Director, the claimant may apply by originating application to the General Division of the High Court, and the General Division of the High Court, after taking evidence either orally or on affidavit, shall make such order on the application as seems just."
The amendments became effective on 05 May 2022.
