Suez Canal Authority issues circulars regarding tankers' transit fees

Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has issued two navigation circulars regarding transit fees for crude oil tankers and petroleum products tankers.

Both circulars were published on February 14th, 2023, and will enter into force on April 1st, 2023.

Crude oil tankers transit fees

The surcharge levied on Laden “Crude Oil Tankers” [Rate (1L) of the Transit Dues Schedule] transiting the Suez Canal in both directions, is amended to be 25% of the Suez Canal normal transit fees.

Also, the surcharge levied on ballast “Crude Oil Tankers” [Rate (1B) of the Transit Dues Schedule] transiting the Suez Canal in both directions, is amended to be 15% of the Suez Canal normal transit fees.

Petroleum products tankers' transit fees

The surcharge levied on Laden “Petroleum Products Tankers” [Rate (2L) of the Transit Dues Schedule] transiting the Suez Canal in both directions, is amended to be 25% of the Suez Canal normal transit fees.

The surcharge levied on ballast “Petroleum Products Tankers” [Rate (2B) of the Transit Dues Schedule] transiting the Suez Canal in both directions, is amended to be 15% of the Suez Canal normal transit fees.

SCA states that these surcharges are temporary and can be either amended or canceled.
