The Guide outlines The ABS requirements for the design and survey of accommodation modules installed onboard ABS-classed Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs), and Mobile Offshore Units (MOUs), Offshore Installations (fixed or floating), Steel Barges, and Steel Vessels.
The February 2022 edition changes the minimum required thickness for steel plating considered effective in the stacking or racking analysis from 5.0 mm to 3.0 mm. Additionally, the Typical Design Head Values tables are moved from 2/23.1 to a new Appendix 3 for clarity. Also, a general procedure to accept the Portable Modules certified/approved by other IACS Class Society for use on board a specific offshore unit is added. Requirements for Annual Surveys for Modules in Service and Survey of Stacking Arrangements are relocated to Appendix 7-2-A2 of the MOU Rules.
The guide entered into force on the 1st of February.
