Bureau Veritas (BV) has issued revised Rules for the classification of steel ships, applicable to all seagoing ships. They provide detailed requirements for the assignment and the maintenance of classed ships by Bureau Veritas and apply to ships for which the date of contract for construction is on or after 1st of July 2022.
The changes include, inter alia, the addition of new service notations, new class notations and new operating area notations, while several existing notations were amended.
Part B concerning Hull Structure was updated according to requirements provided by NR646 - Tentative rules for structural assessment of steel ships.
New sections were added to Part C; Section 11 dedicated to the installation of Exhaust gas pollution prevention systems onboard, including requirements from UR M81 and UR M77 and Section 12 dedicated to the installation of Ballast Water Treatment Systems onboard, including requirements from UR M74 rev.2 and UR F45.
Part F was reorganized according to new thematics in conjunction with the reorganization of Chapter 5 of Part A in order to reflect the reorganization of Part F.
