Recently, the China Classification Society (CCS) established the technical standards for offshore oil and gas CCUS and formulated the “Guidelines for the survey of carbon dioxide capture, utilization, and storage systems for offshore oil and gas (2023)” based on its experience in drawing review and survey of offshore facilities/platforms and offshore oil and gas CCUS.
The Guidelines will take effect from June 1, 2023.
The effective Guidelines will guide the industry in the design, construction, and certification of offshore oil and gas CCUS.
The Guidelines are divided into 8 chapters:
- Chapter 1 General
- Chapter 2 Survey and Certification
- Chapter 3 General Principles for System Design
- Chapter 4 Equipment and Pipelines
- Chapter 5 Electrical, Instrument, and Control Systems
- Chapter 6 Process Safety System
- Chapter 7 Carbon Dioxide Capture
- Chapter 8 Carbon Dioxide Pipeline Transportation
