Hong Kong has issued an updated law regulation titled Merchant Shipping (Safety) (Passenger Ship Construction and Survey) (Ships Built On or After 1 September 1984) Regulations.
This update was published on 2 March 2023.
These regulations apply:
- to new Hong Kong passenger ships wherever they may be, and
- to other new passenger ships while they are within the waters of Hong Kong (exemptions are detailed in this document), and
- to the extent that the Director considers it reasonable and practicable to carry out major repairs, alterations, or modifications to existing Hong Kong passenger ships.
