IACS issues new Unified Interpretations

The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) has issued two new Unified Interpretations - UI LL81 New and UI SC296 New.

UI LL81 is an interpretation of Regulation 37(3) of the International Convention on Load Lines (ICLL Convention), which deals with deduction for superstructure and trunks.

UI SC296 is an interpretation of paragraph 4.2.1 of Resolution MSC.337(91), i.e Code on Noise Levels on Board Ships. The UI is in regard to noise level limit in workshops onboard ships.

Both Unified Interpretations are to be uniformly implemented by IACS Societies on ships contracted for construction on or after 1 January 2023.
