The International Maritime Organization has issued a circular amending the Revised standardized life-saving appliance evaluation and test report forms (survival craft).
This circular was published on December 3rd, 2022, and supersedes MSC.1/Circ.1630.
The forms attached to this circular apply to equipment relating to chapter IV of the LSA Code, i.e. lifeboats (inflatable liferafts; rigid liferafts; components for survival craft; davit-launched lifeboats; and free-fall lifeboats).
The use of the revised forms will continue to benefit Administrations and everyone else, e.g. manufacturers, test facilities, owners, and surveyors... And it will also be of great help in the mutual acceptance of type approval of appliances approved by other administrations.
The IMO urges Member Governments to bring these forms to the attention of all parties involved in the approval, manufacture, and testing of life-saving equipment, and to encourage them to use the revised forms.
