The Directorate General of Shipping, India has issued the Merchant Shipping Notice clarifying the previous advisory for vessels transiting or navigating in/around Yemeni waters.
This notice has been issued on January 2nd, 2023.
The Directorate has received queries seeking clarification regarding the advisory issued vide 'Merchant Shipping Notice - 12 of 2022':
It is hereby clarified that the Merchant Shipping Notice - 12/2022 does not prevent the Indian flag vessel(s) or Indian manned vessel(s), from transiting the Red Sea and/or the Bab el-Mandeb Straits. However, in view of the proximity to the Yemen waters, all precautions necessary under the circumstances shall be taken, keeping the safety of the personnel and vessel as paramount.
