The IMO Facilitation Committee (FAL 47) was held from 13 - 17 March 2023.
FAL deals with matters related to the facilitation of international maritime traffic, including the arrival, stay and departure of ships, persons and cargo from ports.
The Committee also addresses electronic business, including the single window concept, and aims to ensure that the right balance is struck between regulation and the facilitation of international maritime trade.
Lloyd's Register has published the Summary Report from FAL 47.
Key outcomes at FAL 47 include:
- Finalised recommended actions to accelerate the implementation of the Maritime Single Window and revised guidelines for setting up a Maritime Single Window (MSW).
- Further discussions on the Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS).
LR's Summary Report includes an executive summary for those requiring a general overview, but also more technical information for those who would like more detail on the discussions that took place.
