Classification Society Korean Register (KR) has amended its Guidance for Prevention Systems of Pollution from Ships due to Resolution MEPC.340(77) coming into force.
Resolution MEPC.340(77), which revised Guidelines for Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems, becomes effective on June 1st. Updates to the Guidelines clarify a number of parameters to provide consistent terminology and enhance the uniform application of these EGCS standards.
The amendments to the Guidance for Prevention Systems of Pollution from Ships include clarifying the intention of Class requirements separated from ones of conventions (MARPOL and IMO instruments) and adding the provision for application of systems other than reducing engine NOx or SOx emissions (ex. iCER of WinGD used only for improve combustion efficiency).
The amendments become effective on 01 June 2022.
