Classification Society Lloyd's Register has issued a ShipRight procedure about the additional calculation procedures for longitudinal strength.
This document was published on 1 April 2023.
It provides guidance on how to calculate shear flow, buckling, and ultimate hull girder strength as required by Pt 4, Ch 8 Container Ships of Lloyd's Register's Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Ships.
What this ShipRight procedure contains:
1.2.1 Chapter 2 - Calculation of shear flow - describes the procedures for direct calculation of shear flow around a ship's cross-section due to hull girder vertical shear force.
Chapter 3 - Buckling capacity - provides additional guidance for the calculation of the buckling strength of panels and stiffeners.
Chapter 4 - Hull girder ultimate bending capacity - describes the procedures for the calculation of the ultimate hull girder capacity.
