The Republic of the Marshall Islands Maritime Administrator has issued a marine safety advisory reminding that the USA issued guidance to address illicit shipping and sanctions evasion practices.
This advisory was issued on 15 May 2023.
On 14 May 2020, the United States (US) Department of Treasury, Department of State, and Coast Guard published the attached Sanctions Advisory for the Maritime Industry, Energy and Metals Sector, and Related Communities entitled Guidance to Address Illicit Shipping and Sanctions Evasion Practices ("US Illicit Shipping and Sanctions Evasion Practices Guidance").
The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Maritime Administrator (the "Administrator") brings this US Illicit Shipping and Sanctions Evasion Practices Guidance to the attention of RMI registered vessel Owners/Operators, Masters, Nautical Inspectors, Recognized Organizations, and all other persons with responsibility for vessel operations and services under the RMI flag and encourages its close review.
