The Panama Canal Authority has issued an advisory on the Green Vessel Classification System.
The implementation of this system has been announced to all shipping agents, owners, and operators via Advisory to Shipping No. A-12-2023, on March 20th, 2023.
From May 1st, 2023, the Panama Canal Authority, as part of the mandatory documentation to be provided by ships intending to transit the canal, will require the following information:
- International Energy Efficiency Certificate (IEEC) and its supplement Record of Construction relating to Energy Efficiency issued by a classification society,
- Bow thruster (horsepower) / Arrival displacement (TSWD) ratio, and
- Fuel declaration.
