The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure on 24 November 2023 issued a circular informing about banning two tankers from UAE ports and waters.
The UAE Maritime Administration has opted to prohibit the entry of vessels ALHUDA 1 and ARINA 1 into UAE ports and waters, including the exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
This decision comes in light of the discovery that these vessels have been intentionally disabling or falsifying their Automatic Identification System (AIS) while within UAE waters.
Such actions raise suspicions of engaging in unlawful activities, thereby violating UAE laws and regulations.
Details of the vessels are as follows:
ALHUDA 1
- Flag: Panama
- IMO Number: 8223050
- Ship Type: Tanker
- Date and Build Place: 1983 Germany
- Ship Owner: Yaqoob Shipping and Trading Co.
ARINA 1
- Flag: Palau
- IMO Number: 9246463
- Ship Type: Tanker
- Date and Build Place: Korea 2003
- Ship Owner: Arina Inc.
- Ship Operator: Petrofleet Ship Management FZC
The UAE Maritime Administration issues a stern warning to all maritime companies, ships, and agents, advising them to refrain from engaging with the aforementioned vessels to avoid potential legal consequences.
