United Kingdom and Guinea-Bissau have recently ratified the Ballast Water Management Convention (BWM Convention), increasing the number of contracting states to 91, which represents approximately 92.23% of the gross tonnage of the world's merchant shipping.
Accession by the Republic of Guinea-Bissau was effected by the deposit of an instrument on 12 May 2022 and UK on 26 May 2022.
The Convention will enter into force for Guinea-Bissau on 12 August 2022, in accordance with article 18(3) of the Convention, while for the United Kingdom the Convention will enter into force on 26 August 2022.
