UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency on 2 October 2023 issued a safety bulletin informing that the PAROC Marine Navis Slab/Mat/Wired 60 product line has non-compliant structural fire protection.
Following independent testing it has been found that the PAROC Marine Navis Slab/Mat/Wired 60 product line does not meet the A-60 Test requirements despite the products holding a Type Approval Certificate and having MED approval.
While the product does provide some structural fire protection it was found to not restrict the temperature rise for the full 60 minutes required for A-60 approval.
The MCA believes that supply of this product in the UK for use in newbuild ships has been limited but believe it could have been installed by third party suppliers for repair and modification purposes.
Actions to take
If you believe you have non-installed stock of these products, please inform PAROC who will make arrangements for recompense.
PAROC can be contacted by email at
If the product is installed on board, the supplier should be contacted and a remedial action plan agreed with your local marine office.
