The United States Coast Guard has released an MMS work instruction for the towing vessel Certificate of Inspection issuance, as well as the towing vessel particulars.
More precisely, the USCG Office of Commercial Vessel Compliance (CG-CVC) has issued a comprehensive Mission Management System (MMS) Work Instruction for Towing Vessel COI Inspections Under the TSMS Option.
This guidance outlines the requirements and procedures for obtaining a Certificate of Inspection (COI) for towing vessels under the Towing Safety Management System (TSMS) option.
It covers a range of topics including survey timelines, audit requirements, renewal processes, and the use of existing safety management systems to meet COI issuance requirements.
The document provides valuable insights for industry professionals, mariners, and the public on complying with statutory and regulatory obligations for towing vessel inspections.
Both documents were released on 6 November 2023.
