IMO's Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) has issued amendments to the International Code of Safety for High-Speed Craft (HSC), adopted at the latest MSC meeting that was held from 20th to 29th of April 2022.
Amendments to Chapter 8 Life-saving appliances and arrangements and to Chapter 14 Radiocommunications, as well as the Record of Equipment for High-Speed Craft Safety Certificate, were approved at MSC 104 and adopted at MSC 105 in conjunction with adoption of the related amendments to the 1974 SOLAS Convention. The amendments relate to the modernization of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems (GMDSS).
The amendments should be deemed to have been accepted on 01 July 2023 and enter into force on 01 January 2024, in accordance with the Guidance on Entry into Force of Amendments to the 1974 SOLAS Convention and related Mandatory Instruments (MSC.1/Circ.1481).
