Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has published new Classification Notes on type approval, installation and testing of water level detectors on ships subject to SOLAS Reg. II-1/25, II-1/25-1, and XII/12.
This edition of the Classification Notes supersedes the January 2013 edition.
The document was published on 1 December 2023.
These amendments, effective from January 1, 2024, include the deletion of Section 2 (Application) as it is covered elsewhere, renumbering of sections, amendments to definitions, clarification of functional requirements, addition of requirements for bilge alarms, reference to the IMO Code for Alerts and Indicators, specifications for alarm overriding devices, and details about malfunctions, alarms, and indications. Additionally, there are specifications for temperature range indication in manuals, additional information for bilge alarm system manuals, and changes to Type Testing Requirements, such as the removal of EMI and salt mist tests for alarm systems and detection equipment.
